Raging Trump demands House Republican be ‘thrown out of office’
Donald Trump, with his incomparable attacking style, took it upon himself to go after the Republican Congressman from Kentucky, Thomas Massie, very strongly, accusing him of being party disloyal and calling him “weak” and “pathetic.” Through the “Truth Social” platform, he openly voiced his ire and with sarcasm questioned Massie’s capability as a Congressman and even stated his indefinite loyalty to the conservative movement.
However, Trump’s arguments were not based on dislike only. He went on to say that Massie, though a Republican, had been casting votes against important Republican-backed legislation nearly all the time, which Trump said, in turn, aids the Democrats and “Radical Left.” Massie in Trump’s eyes is preventing the large-scale conservative agenda from being implemented and posing a bigger challenge than support. He went further by asserting that Massie’s political stand is contrary to the Philosophy of Kentucky voters and accused him of working against the Republican Party instead.powib.com
Trump offered the voters in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District the choice of electing someone who would really fight for them and the America First agenda. He asserted having a great win in Kentucky several times and therefore the people there having given a clear mandate to realize his dream of America being great again. In fact, he thought Massie was not the one to deliver that dream.
Trump went that extra mile of openly expressing his support for a possible challenger, Captain Ed Gallrein, whom he had been speaking very highly of. Gallrein is a retired Navy SEAL, an Army Ranger, and a fifth-generation farmer from Kentucky—the very background Trump used to make him look like a strong, competent, and extremely patriotic American. Trump characterized Gallrein as the kind of man who would not only uphold conservative values but also support Republican bills and assist in the eradication of left-wing policies.
Trump went beyond just talking up Gallrein. He put his name to the cause saying that Gallrein if he decides to beat Massie, Trump’s support will be the total and complete. He called the candidate to step into the competition by saying “RUN, ED, RUN” to the audience. Trump made a point that Gallrein would be a good choice for voters and compared him to Massie whom he called a “lightweight” and a “loser” who had been a failure to the people of Kentucky.
Trump’s attack here is nothing more than another instance of his method of flying against the members of his own party who, either openly or silently, do not support him or who oppose his Congressional policies. One such member, Massie has over the years been vocally opposed to Trump on a whole range of subject matters including but not limited to government spending, the national debt, and military intervention abroad. Massie has often been more libertarian or fiscally conservative in his approach, which brings him into conflict with Trump who, at times, may take a more populist or aggressive style of governing.
The message from Trump could not be more unambiguous. He is asking for Republicans to be the ones in power who will not oppose him and even going to such lengths as to target those within his party who do not share the same view as he does. The backing that he has given to Gallrein points out a new way forward for the Republican Party, one that involves removing critics and dissenters to make way for those who are faithful to the cause and will push his political agenda through without any opposition.
